Volume Modes VR Nursing Simulation
The learner manages a patient in volume-controlled and SIMV modes, sets tidal volume by ideal body weight, rate, flow and PEEP, and interprets peak and plateau pressures to detect obstruction or reduced compliance.

Learning objectives
By the end of this experience the learner can:
- Calculate a lung-protective tidal volume from ideal body weight.
- Set rate, flow and PEEP in a volume mode.
- Interpret peak and plateau pressure changes.
- Respond to high-pressure alarms safely.
Procedure steps
- Calculate ideal body weight and a 6 to 8 mL/kg tidal volume.
- Enter the settings and confirm the delivered volume.
- Observe peak and plateau pressures during a pause manoeuvre.
- Respond to a high-pressure alarm by checking the tube, secretions and patient synchrony.
- Document settings and pressures.
Assessment
Tidal volume calculation, pressure interpretation and alarm handling are scored.
Equipment and setting
Standalone VR headset with hand controllers, full-scale virtual patient and equipment, instructor screen mirroring, Arabic and English interface, offline operation on the campus network.
